We can meet at my brick and mortar office in Chico, CA or remotely, by phone or video-conferencing from virtually anywhere you are in the world. I provide only live, person to person counseling services. My typical counseling session is 50 minutes long and my typical couple counseling session is 110 minutes long. Effective counseling is usually scheduled on a 1X a week basis.
I specialize in mindfulness-based psychotherapy for anxiety and panic disorders. As you can see from my website, I am the author of two books in mindfulness-based psychology that address shyness and social anxiety, unworthiness, inadequacy and shame. I have found video conferencing to be an ideal form of therapy for all forms of anxiety and panic disorder and especially beneficial for social anxiety and agoraphobia as you needn't leave the comfort of your own home to engage in this healing work together.Through mindfulness you can learn to observe the contents of your mind without identifying with them - this is extremely helpful as you can see that the part of you that is aware of anxiety is not itself anxious. You can know your mind without becoming it.
Though the counseling services I offer outside my office are just like what I provide in my counseling office in Chico, these sessions are not intended to take the place of face-to-face therapy, conventional clinical assessment, or treatment. Some problems are best addressed by seeking therapy with a licensed and respected therapist in your community. A single visit online with me can often reveal if this is the best course of treatment for you.
To arrange for an appointment or multiple appointments please contact me at (530) 898-1495 or email me email@example.com. We can talk a little prior to our first visit to see if we may do well together.
It's important that you understand and agree to the limitations of my remotely provided counseling services. The counseling services I provide online and on the phone are not appropriate for crises, emergency situations or for persons having suicidal or homicidal thoughts. As this is not a crisis service it may be that your inquiry or request for service may not be responded to for 24 or more hours. If you are in crisis, please go to a hospital emergency room, or call "911" and ask for emergency mental health services near you. Your call or initial contact with me is a tacit agreement that you understand this provision for our work together.
