What is MBCT?

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy

In the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) class, you will learn the practice of mindfulness meditation as well as receive information about depression. The course includes instruction on cognitive therapy exercises that demonstrate the links between thinking and feeling, teach you to recognize the beginnings of a depressive mood, and provides information on how to break the link between negative moods and the negative thinking it triggers. Steve Alper, L.C.S.W, an experienced psychotherapist, MBSR teacher, and who will teach a 5-day MBCT Professional Training in February, will teach this class beginning April 13, 2007.
